Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional V9.5 and TalkingPoint Silver

Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional V9.5 and TalkingPoint Silver

The Market Leading Voice Interface for Special Needs

TalkingPoint helps:
- Typing difficulties (e.g. RSI)
- Dyslexia or other spelling difficulties
- Visual impairment or blindness
- Any combination of the above

TalkingPoint for Special Needs is an advanced voice interface, ideally suited to special needs. It helps you be competitive in the workplace and enjoy your home computing despite your disability. TalkingPoint is quicker to learn and faster to use than traditional speech recognition systems. There are fewer commands to deal with and fewer steps to take for each task.

Powered by Dragon NaturallySpeaking, TalkingPoint combines Dragon’s unrivalled accuracy with TalkingPoint’s unique voice interface to drive the desktop hands-free, with optional visual and audio feedback that can be configured to individual needs.

Ease of use for everyone:
- Simple, powerful command set
- Microsoft Outlook and Word Speech Optimised
- Advanced Voice Interface for all packages

A few easily remembered TalkingPoint Commmands initiate mini-workflows, rather than merely emulating typing steps and mouse clicks. Once TalkingPoint has been told what to do, it prompts for user-input, and displays or reads user feedback.

Truly “hands-free” usability to address typing difficulties:
- Package and window manipulation
- Voice enabled file explorer
- Word formatting in single commands
- E-mail automation including attachments

TalkingPoint automates even those areas that would have most users reaching in exasperation for the mouse. File browsing, window positioning, package control and other tasks are controlled amazingly quickly by voice. Steps are kept to a minimum, reducing user error and maximising productivity.

It is a fact!
TalkingPoint Users work faster than their ‘keyboard and mouse’ bound colleagues.

Get started on day-one with TalkingPoint without scripting or macro writing

Fast, Intuitive Navigation
TalkingPoint enables the user to navigate the desktop PC by voice. We can move through packages, Word, Outlook, Excel, e-mail, calendar etc. We can save and retrieve files by voice commands. Getting around the desktop without touching the keyboard is impossible with Dragon alone. We enable voice control of the browser (through the folder system) and file handling systems.

Fast and Easy E-Mailing
Handling of e-mails by voice is very easy and intuitive with TalkingPoint. For example, wherever you are on the desktop, you can say: --"new message to Malcolm" (a box appears prompting for the title ) I say the title, e.g. "meeting scheduled for Friday June the 29th at Birmingham" and then "confirm". I am now in a position to dictate the e-mail content. Whilst composing the e-mail message you can say "get person" and when the box prompts for the contact name, you say "Arthur Smith". After composing the content you can then say "copy to Clive", "blind copy to Arthur", "attach Terms and Conditions file" and then "confirm". The e-mail is now completed and in the outbox. You have sent an e-mail to one person and copied 2 others, included the Outlook contact details for Arthur Smith, included a key attachment (terms and conditions file) , and not once touched the keyboard. With Dragon this would need around 20 mouse clicks. Dragon enables speech to text word composition and very little else.

Replying to e-mail messages is just as easy, with the added benefit that as standard the reply message is shown half screen on the right-hand side of the screen, with the incoming message on the left-hand side (this makes replying point by point much easier).

Fast and Easy Outlook Contacts
With TalkingPoint we can enter Outlook contact details by voice when setting up a contact.

Database Handling
With commands like "select field", "title field", "delete field", "next field" TalkingPoint provides powerful database navigation tools. These additional commands of TalkingPoint (over and above Dragon) are consistent across the desktop when working in other areas such as Word, and Excel.

Magnified viewer for Visual Impairment:
- Echoes everything heard and selected
- Echoes commands and displays important information
- On top window with settable fonts and colours
- Shows you only what you need to dictate and edit
- Minimises zoom and pan

TalkingPoint’s optional viewer allows dictation and editing to be carried out without zooming, panning or configuring hooked areas. The viewer displays only what is needed, when it is needed, to dictate and edit text and control the desktop.

Voice for Blind use:
- Echoes spoken phrases as heard
- Reads text as it is selected
- Announces inputs to aid orientation
- Minimises need to use screen reader

TalkingPoint’s optional audio feedback, announces what is happening and the desktop status. It repeats each phrase as it is heard and guides the user through the correction process in an easy to understand manner. Screen Readers are not needed for most daily operations, allowing fast and easy use.

Audio feedback is also ideal for those with spelling difficulties as each dictated phrase is read back while it is fresh in the mind.

Microphone control
Voice controlled microphone switching is eliminated! - saving lots of time and effort.

TalkingPoint SmartPedals provide unique foot-operated press-to-talk microphone control, especially suited for the blind and for anyone with keying difficulties.

TalkingPoint SmartMike provides the ideal hand-held microphone for those with reading difficulties and the visually impaired.

Package integration
Neither Macro writing nor scripting are required to get TalkingPoint up and running, across the desktop. Frequently used items can be nicknamed and recalled by voice such as files, directories, web pages, e-mail folders, word styles and shortcuts.

The TalkingPoint Training
The TalkingPoint Team has extensive experience working with individual users and large organisations to help satisfy every individual’s special needs. Organisations such as the Thalidomide Trust and Metropolitan Police Services have benefited from using TalkingPoint as have individuals working from home.
